about

Victorian era train riders believed travel by rail could cause temporary insanity. They feared being swallowed, their screams not heard over the relentless wheels. Freud believed fear of train travel was linked to sexual repression. The body being jarred and jolted brought physical sensation to the forefront of the mind, tapping into subconscious sexual urges. Modern riders of the rail find themselves detached and fearful. Trains are fast. Overcrowded. Dangerous. Traveling to nowhere. Here, Saint Elisabeth presents a 15 minute harsh improvisation. A soundscape of fear.
